What are pores?

The word “pore” is actually a layman’s term. It is really orifices or tiny openings from wither the pilosebaceous follicles or eccrine sweat glands. It main function is to allow the input or output of gases or fluids through the skin. They are usually invisible to the naked eye, but usually with general aging, they will start to become more visible. Each skin pore actually host a great number of pilosebaceous and sweet glands ductal openings. Under the microscope, they look more like skin depressions.

What are the causes to large skin pores?

High sebum excretion, decreased elasticity around pores, and increased hair follicle volume. In addition, chronic recurrent acne, sex hormones, and skin care regimen can affect pore size.
